Sleeping inside or in nearby hotels (GRU)
Possibility to spend the night at São Paulo Guarulhos airport (GRU), if open 24 hours. Services available, places to rest (free resting zones), or look for the list of nearby hotels and vip lounges.
Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Since the three terminals at Guarulhos remain open 24 hours a day, passengers with connecting flights or early-morning departures can choose to spend the night inside the airport.
Where to Rest
Terminal 1: It is the smallest terminal with fewer services. It is usually quiet at night, but seating is limited and made of metal. If your flight does not depart from here, it’s best to avoid it.
Terminal 2: This is the busiest and noisiest area. In the public zone (Landside), benches have armrests and foot traffic is constant. If you decide to stay here, keep a close eye on your belongings at all times. In the boarding area, near gates 201 to 220, it is sometimes possible to find quieter spots, although the seats are not reclining.
Terminal 3: This is undoubtedly the best option. In the international boarding area, the floor is carpeted, allowing you to lie down with some comfort if you have a sleeping bag or blanket. There are benches without armrests near some gates and quieter rest areas at the end of the hallways.
Safety: It is recommended to exercise extra caution and watch your belongings if you choose to sleep in the public area, especially at night, as there have been reports of unauthorized individuals inside the airport grounds.
Paid Accommodation and VIP Lounges
If your budget allows, there are options inside or right next to the terminals that offer greater comfort:
- Transit Hotels: There are options for hourly or overnight stays inside the terminals: TRYP by Wyndham in Terminal 3, and sleeping capsules or suites (Fast Sleep) in Terminal 2.
- VIP Lounges: Numerous lounges in the terminals operate 24 hours a day, offering a quieter environment, Wi-Fi, and snacks. Several lounges also have showers.
Services
For the comfort of those spending the night, the following services are available 24 hours a day:
- Food and Drinks: All terminals offer dining options open overnight.
- Luggage Storage: The storage service (Malex) is available in Terminals 2 and 3 to store belongings.
- Financial Services: ATMs and currency exchange offices.
- Other Services: Shops, duty-free stores, and baby care facilities.
Connectivity: Free Wi-Fi access is available in two 2-hour sessions.
