Heathrow Airport, opened on January 1, 1946, is the largest and busiest in Europe and is continuously growing. It operates with numerous domestic and international flights around the globe.

Number of Terminals - 4 - Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5, open 24 hours a day. Terminals 2 and 3 are linked through a pedestrian underpass, and there are free trains every 15 minutes to buildings 4 and 5. To move from Terminal 4 to 5 you must take bus 482 or 490.
Annual passenger traffic: More than 75.6 million passengers went through it in 2016.

Heathrow airport is located 24 km (15 miles) to the west of London.

Bus - The airport is connected with more than 500 local and national destinations. National Express (Tel +44 871 781 8181) offers direct services to different locations, such as Oxford, Bristol, Wales, London (1 hour; £8.40), and Gatwick (75 min.; £25.00), Stansted (90 min.; £22.50) and Luton (70 min.; £22.50) airports, in addition to travels to Woking Station every 30 minutes for £10.50. Oxford Bus (Tel +44 186 578 5400) links the enclosure with Oxford in around 80 min., with a fare of £23.00. RailAir (Tel +44 118 957 9425) runs to Reading Station every 20 min. (45 min. trip; £16.00). Route 724 from Green Line (Tel +44 844 801 7261) goes to Watford Junction hourly (45 min.; £15.00), through Denham, Rickmansworth, St. Albans, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden, Hertford and Harlow. Bus 285 from Transport for London (Tel +44 207 222 1234) leaves every 10 min. to Hatton Cross, Feltham, Hampton Wick and Cromwell Road, while line 490 runs to Richmond, Hatton Cross and Feltham (30 min.; £5.00). Tickets can be acquired at the bus central station, located between terminals 2 and 3, from 6:00 am to 10:10 pm. On the other hand, Hotel Hoppa (Tel +44 871 781 8181) offers services to different hotels in the city for £5.00.

Train - The Heathrow Express (Tel +44 345 600 1515) departs every 15 minutes to London Paddington Mondays through Saturdays between 5:07 am and 11:58 pm, and Sundays from 6:25 am to 11:25 pm. Journey times is 15 min. and the fare is £27.00-30.00. The Heathrow Connect (Tel +44 345 604 1515) also runs to Paddington, but has intermediate stops in Hayes & Harlington, Southall, Hanwell, West Ealing and Ealing Broadway. It has a frequency of 30 min., the entire trip takes 31-49 min. and the price to Paddington is £10.20.

Metro - The airport has three stations, one between terminals 2 and 3, and another two underneath terminals 4 and 5. The Piccadilly line (Tel +44 343 222 1234) departs every 10 minutes to downtown London, with a trip of 50 minutes and a fare of £6.00. It operates from 5:02 am to 11:45 pm (weekends from 3:14 am to 11:28 pm). Stops include Hatton Cross, Hounslow, Acton Town, Hammersmith, Earl's Court, Knightsbridge, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Russell Square, King's Cross, Arsenal, Southgate, Cockfosters.

Taxi - Cabs available outside each terminal. You can also pre-book vehicles from Minicabit (Tel +44 203 695 2831), Green Tomato Cars (Tel +44 207 107 0777) and EcoExpress Airport Cars (Tel +44 203 388 0767). The journey to the city centre takes 30-60 minutes and costs £46.00-87.00.

Car rental counters are found on the Arrivals level of all terminals. Alamo/Enterprise/National (Tel +44 208 897 2100), Avis (Tel +44 344 544 6000), Budget (Tel +44 344 544 4600), Europcar (Tel +44 371 384 3410), Hertz (Tel +44 843 309 3009), Sixt (Tel +44 844 499 3399).

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, post office, VIP lounges, public telephones, mobile phone services, charging stations, internet kiosks and free Wi-Fi access. On the first floor of Terminal 5 there is a business center with meeting rooms.

Food and Drinks- Numerous restaurants, cafés, bars and fast food outlets are available throughout the enclosure. Caffè Nero, in Terminal 4, and Costa, in terminals 2 and 5, open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- There is a wide variety of stores, with duty-free articles (after the security control and in the luggage recollection halls), clothing and accessories, cosmetics, perfumes, jewellery, souvenirs, electronics, toys, sweets, books, newspapers and magazines, spirits, footwear.
Baggage- Trolleys available free of charge throughout the terminals. Porters in the baggage reclaim halls and the forecourts (Tel +44 208 745 6011). Left luggage and secure wrapping services on the Arrivals level of the four terminals, from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm (Tel +44 208 759 3344). The lost and found offices are located in the Heathrow Express building (Terminal 3) and in the Domestic Arrivals Hall of Terminal 5; they operate from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm (Tel +44 203 761 1800).
Other Services- Children's play areas, baby care facilities, prayer rooms, pharmacies, art gallery, spa, hairdresser, shoeshines, golf simulator, games room.

There are several parking areas with security personnel, in addition to free spaces for motorcycles and valet parking service in every terminal from 5:00 am to 10:30 pm. Passenger drop-off zones at each terminal forecourt. More information: Tel +44 344 335 1000. Rates and reservations

Short Stay - Located next to each terminal, with charging stations for electric cars.
Long Stay - Three parking lots with shuttles every 10 minutes. The first 2 hours have no charge.
Business Parking - Areas closer to terminals 2, 3 and 5, with faster and more frequent buses.
Pod Parking - Exclusive car park for passengers flying out from Terminal 5, with automatic vehicles to the building.

The YOTELAIR London Heathrow (Tel +44 207 100 1100) is situated on the mezzanine level of Terminal 4, while the Hilton London Heathrow Airport (Tel +44 208 759 7755) is connected to that building through a covered walkway. The Sofitel London Heathrow (Tel +44 208 757 7777) is linked to Terminal 5.
