Covid-19: Regulations for travel to Canada

International travel to Canada is permitted for vaccinated travelers. There are exceptions for unvaccinated citizens and those traveling for "essential reasons". You need to meet the requirements to ensure entry is allowed.

Exceptional travel

There are exemptions to border closure for essential reasons, such as travel for temporary foreign workers, international students, and compassionate reasons. Tourist travel is not allowed unless fully vaccinated. You can find a full list of exemptions at https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/travel-restrictions-exemptions.html#foreignWaivers are revoked if another country has been visited in the previous 14 days that is considered to have a variant of the virus. The entry of travelers will be allowed. This does not apply to Canadian citizens or permanent residents who must follow further quarantine and testing requirements, regardless of vaccination status. The list of countries and more information can be found at https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/news/2021/11/government-of-canada-introduces-new-measures-to-address-covid -19-omicron-variant-of-concern.html

Other restrictions

When leaving Canada, travelers must present a valid certificate for full COVID-19 vaccination. There are limited exceptions, such as for emergency travel, more information can be found at https://www.canada.ca/en/transport-canada/news/2021/10/mandatory-covid-19-vaccination-requirements-for - federally-regulated-transportation-employees-and-travelers.html

Vaccinations and travel rules for vaccinated people

Travelers who present a valid international certificate for full COVID-19 vaccination, using an approved vaccine, do not require an essential reason to enter and are exempt from quarantine requirements. Vaccinated travelers are still required to provide a pre-departure test and can be randomly selected to be screened upon arrival. Travelers should also have a proper quarantine plan for 14 days as a precaution, even when seeking full vaccination exemption. Proof of vaccination must be uploaded to the ArriveCAN app. Final dose must have been administered at least 14 days prior to departure and supporting documentation must be in English, French, or with a certified translation. You can find more information athttps://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada#determine-fully

It is mandatory to submit medical certificate / proof

Proof of a negative test result, taken within the previous 72 hours, must be provided upon departure. Instead, travelers can provide documentation of having recovered from COVID-19. This will require proof of a positive test result, taken at least 14 days prior to departure and no more than 180 days prior to departure. The negative molecular test result or recovery proof must be uploaded to the ArriveCAN app. More information on testing requirements, such as accepted test types, can be found at https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/flying-canada-checklist/covid-19-testing-travellers - venir-a-canadá? utm_campaign = gac-amc-covid-20-21 & utm_source = travel-covid_travel-restriction_flying_ & utm_medium = redirect & utm_content = es # haciendo la prueba

Test is done upon arrival

A molecular test will be administered on arrival and travelers will receive COVID-19 home sample collection kits to be taken on day 8 of the quarantine period. The kit contains information on how to collect, store, and ship the samples. Travelers can register for the test by reaching https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/flying-canada-checklist/covid-19-testing-travellers-coming-into-canada?utm_campaign= gac -amc-covid-20-21 & utm_source = travel-covid_travel-restrictions_flying_ & utm_medium = redirect & utm_content = en # register Travelers who can provide proof of a positive test result, taken at least 14 days prior to departure and no more than 180 days before, they are exempt from the Arriving test.
