Main Terminal - Departures Level

Edmonton International Airport operates all scheduled passenger flights from a single integrated terminal building. Check-in desks and airline passenger counters are located on Level 2 (Departures).

Check-in counters for domestic and non-U.S. international flights

  • WestJet: the airport's primary carrier and major focus city hub; serves over 30 domestic and international destinations (including Mexico, Central America, and Europe).
  • WestJet Encore: regional subsidiary offering regular connections across Western Canada.
  • Air Canada: domestic flights to key hubs including Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa, and northern Canadian gateways.
  • Air Canada Express / Air Canada Rouge: regional connections and seasonal leisure flights.
  • Flair Airlines: ultra-low-cost carrier with an operating base in Edmonton, serving around 9 domestic and vacation destinations.
  • Porter Airlines: non-stop flights to Toronto Pearson, Ottawa, and Montreal utilizing its E195-E2 jet fleet.

Check-in counters for U.S. transborder flights

Located at the southern end of Level 2 (Doors 28 to 30), adjacent to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Preclearance facility:

  • Alaska Airlines: daily non-stop flights to Seattle (SEA).
  • United Airlines: daily flights to Denver (DEN) and seasonal service to major hubs such as Chicago, Houston, and San Francisco.
  • WestJet: dedicated transborder counters for direct flights to Las Vegas, Phoenix, Orlando, and Palm Springs.

Other airlines and charter flights

Specialty and charter operators (such as Summit Air, Nolinor Aviation, and Morningstar Air Express) run scheduled workforce, corporate, and cargo services from designated terminal gates or dedicated facilities across the airport grounds.

Routes and schedules change with the season and each airline's decisions. Check the airport or airline website before planning your trip.

What to sort out with your airline

Before or after your trip, these issues are handled directly with the airline, ideally well in advance:

  1. Check-in and documents: many countries require your passport to be valid for 3 to 6 months beyond your stay. Confirm it with the airline and the embassy of your destination before checking in online.
  2. Baggage: size and weight limits, prohibited items and fees for checked or excess baggage. Each fare has its own rules: read the fine print.
  3. Minors traveling alone or with one parent: some countries ask for a signed, sometimes notarized, consent. Ask about the airline's Unaccompanied Minor service, its age limits and deadlines.
  4. Reduced mobility and pregnancy: request assistance at least 48 hours in advance. Many airlines ask for a medical certificate from around week 28 of pregnancy.
  5. Pets and assistance dogs: spaces for pets in the cabin are limited, so book early. Assistance dogs usually travel free, with notice at least 48 hours ahead and the required documents.
  6. Changes and cancellations: check whether your fare allows a refund or only a voucher. If the airline changes your flight, ask about assistance (hotel, meals) and missed connections.
  7. Delays, cancellations and denied boarding: on flights covered by EU Regulation 261/2004, arriving 3 hours or more late or a last-minute cancellation may entitle you to €250 to €600 in compensation, unless there were extraordinary circumstances. Keep your boarding pass, receipts and messages.
