Shanghai Pudong International Airport, opened on October 1, 1999, to take the international traffic covered until that moment by Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, is the most modern and the third busiest in the country and one of the busiest in Asia. It operates with domestic and international flights around the globe.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Open 24 hours a day. A shuttle service operates between the buildings from 6:00 am to 0:00 am, with 10-minute intervals.

In Terminal 1 they are located near boarding gates 1-2 (6:00 am to 7:00 pm) and 9-12 (6:00 am to 0:00 am), and in the Domestic Arrivals Hall (8:00 pm to 10:00 pm). Bus - There are several services to the city. Line 1 - to Hongqiao airport and train station and to Hub East Center; 2 - to the city terminal and Jing'an Temple; 4 - to Wujiaochang, Yunguang Xincun and Lu Xun Park; 5 - to Shanghai Railway Station, with stops at Yangjing Guangqiao and Dongfang Hospital; 7 - connects the enclosure with Shanghai South Railway Station; 8 - to Nanhui via CNAF Station, Zhupan Highway-Chuannan Feng Highway, Nanzhu Highway, Zhouzhu Highway and Yan Cang; 9 - East Xinjian and Baocheng. They operate approximately between 7:00 am and 11:00 pm, with frequencies of 10-25 minutes. District line 1 goes to Shiwan and Hang Cheng Garden between 8:00 am and 7:20 pm. There is also a night bus to Hongqiao Airport that runs from 11:00 pm until 45 min. after the last flight, with 45 min. intervals. From 6:00 am to 1:00 am there is a shuttle to People's Square, Hongqiao, Lujiazui, Jing'an Temple and Xujiahui (Tel +86 400 920 1984), while at 11:00 am a bus leaves from Terminal 2 to Disney West Transit Hub (Tel +86 216 833 9986).
Frequent long-distance coaches are available to Hangzhou, Jiaxing, Yiwu, Qingtian, Wenzhou, Nantong, Qidong, Kunshan, Suzhou, Wuxi, Zhangjiagang, Huzhou, Changzhou, Taicang, Keqiao and Jingjiang. More information: Tel +86 216 834 5743.
Train - The Maglev (Tel +86 212 890 7777) is a high-speed train that links the airport with metro line 2 at Longyang Road Station (travel time: 8 minutes). It leaves every 15-20 min. from 7:02 am to 10:40 pm.
Metro - Line 2 from Shanghai Metro (Tel +86 216 437 0000) travels to Guanglan Road (transfer stop to East Xujing) from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, with 8-minute intervals. Intermediate stops include Chuansha, Tangzhen, Zhangjiang High Technology Park, Lujiazui, People's Square, Beixinjing and Hongqiao airport.
Taxi - Cabs available outside the Arrivals Hall of both terminals. Extra charges apply for travelling between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am. Journey time to downtown Shanghai is 25-40 minutes.
Short- and long-term spaces are available. The first 20 minutes are free of charge. Valet parking services next to gate 15 (Terminal 1) and gate 29 (Terminal 2), from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Fees

Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs should inform their airline about their particular needs before their travel. There are elevators and ramps, adapted toilets and accessible telephones inside the terminals. Electric vehicles for people transfer in Terminal 2, from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm.
