Transportation
La Aurora Airport offers a variety of ground transportation options for traveling to different areas of Guatemala City and to the country's main tourist attractions, such as Antigua Guatemala and Lake Atitlán.
Ride-sharing Services
Uber operates regularly at the airport. Once you have collected your luggage and entered the public area, you can request a ride through the app by setting the terminal as your pickup location. Passenger pickups are usually coordinated outside the arrivals level (ground floor). For safety, always verify that the license plate, vehicle make, and driver's identity match the information provided in the app before getting into the vehicle.
Authorized Taxis
To ensure safe transportation with regulated fares, it is recommended to use official taxi companies, including Taxis Amarillo Express and Taxis Mariscal. You will find ticketing and vehicle assignment counters inside the arrivals hall, before exiting onto the street. The trip to Zone 10 (Zona Viva), Zone 14, or the city's historic center takes an average of 20 to 35 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
Rent a Car
Tourist Shuttles and Minivans
Tourist transportation and private transfer companies, such as Turansa and Atitlan Tour, along with other operators with counters in the arrivals area, coordinate direct transfers to Guatemala City as well as to tourist destinations throughout the country and region: Antigua Guatemala, Panajachel (Lake Atitlán), Chichicastenango, Monterrico Beach, Quetzaltenango, Cobán, and the archaeological site of Copán (Honduras). These services can be arranged at the terminal counters or booked online in advance.
For Antigua Guatemala, Marvelus Travel and Coban Travels operate shuttle services with frequent departures from the airport. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, with departures from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Public Transportation and Transmetro
Line 13 of the Transmetro BRT system connects the Zone 13 area with stops such as Plaza Argentina, Los Arcos, Plaza España, Plaza de la República, and the Historic Center (Tipografía station). It generally operates from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm on weekdays and until 8:00 pm on weekends.
It is important to note that the nearest stops and stations (such as Hangares or Plaza Argentina) are located outside the terminal's immediate perimeter, requiring several minutes of walking along public roads. Due to the limited space for large suitcases on the vehicles and the distance to access the system, it is not a convenient option if you are traveling with bulky luggage. Access to the system requires a prepaid/reloadable card.
