Spending the night at the airport
Although Christchurch airport operates 24 hours a day, you will only be allowed to spend the night inside the enclosure under certain conditions. Passengers will have to prove that they arrived after 10:30 pm through some form of commercial transport and that they will leave before 8:00 am. In addition, you will only be allowed to seat, but not to sleep or lie down.
Where to rest: Available seats are uncomfortable and the air conditioning is very strong, so come prepared with warm clothes. Inside the terminal there are a few VIP lounges with more amenities and privacy, but they close at night. Finally, there a some hotels 5-10 minutes away from the airport.
Baggage: The left luggage service operates from 4:30 am until the last flight of the day.
Eating and drinking: There is only one coffee shop that remains open during the night.
Restrooms: Showers in the International Arrivals Hall and in the VIP lounges.
Wi-Fi: Free and unlimited.
Other services available around the clock: ATMs, children's play area, baby changing facilities.
