Sleeping inside or in nearby hotels (SOF)

Possibility to spend the night at Sofia airport (SOF), if open 24 hours. Services available, places to rest (free resting zones), or look for the list of nearby hotels and vip lounges.

Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, all regular services and hours may be subject to change. Thus, if the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are close to boarding.

Spending the night at the airport

Sofia airport operates with many flights and connections and is open 24 hours a day. Therefore, it is frequent to see many passengers waiting for their flight departure at night.

Where to rest: Terminal 1 is usually very crowded, so it is best to catch some sleep in Terminal 2, which is bigger and quieter and has benches with no armrests, especially in the coffee shop. Still, it is best to have a sleeping bag in case you have to lay on the floor, as the place can get pretty cold. Another option is to make use of one of the VIP lounges for more comfort and privacy, although these close at night. Some of the closest hotels offer shuttle services.

Baggage: There are no left-luggage offices. This means you will have to keep your baggage with you until check-in.

Eating and drinking: Shops close at night. It is best to have snacks ready in advance.

Wi-Fi: Free and unlimited.

Other services available around the clock: ATMs, baby changing facilities.
