The airport offers various public and private transport options to reach the city of Bologna or to connect with other major cities in the Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany regions.
Buses
Several companies operate bus routes to and from the airport, connecting it with Bologna and other important cities in the region:
- TPER Line Q: A service that connects the airport with Ospedale Maggiore in around 15 minutes and with other key points of the city, such as Pontelungo, Bernardi and Santa Viola. At night (12:00 am to 5:00 am) it links the airport with Bologna’s main train station (Bologna Centrale). It operates every 30 minutes with a fare of €2.30.
- TPER Line 54: An internal route within the Borgo Panigale district, linking the airport with Villaggio Speranza. It operates only during the daytime, from Monday to Saturday.
Long-distance buses
- Appennino Shuttle: Direct connections to Florence and Siena. More information at appenninoshuttle.it.

- Shuttle Italy Airport: Connections to Rimini, Cesena, Ravenna and Cervia. More information at shuttleitalyairport.it.
- Ferrara Bus & Fly: Connects the airport with Ferrara. More information at ferrarabusandfly.it.
Trains and Monorail
The airport is directly connected to Bologna’s central station, an important railway hub offering connections throughout Italy.
- Marconi Express: This monorail connects the airport directly with Bologna Centrale in just 7 minutes, with frequencies of 7–15 minutes. Services run from 5:40 am to 12:00 am. Fare: €12.80. The Marconi Express station is located on the first floor of the terminal.
- Trenitalia and Italo: From Bologna Centrale station, you can take high-speed and regional trains operated by Trenitalia and Italo to the main Italian cities.
Rent a Car
Taxis
Taxi ranks are located right outside the terminal’s arrivals area. The main companies operating at the airport are Cotabo and CAT Radiotaxi. The journey to Bologna city centre usually takes between 15 and 20 minutes.
