Covid-19: Regulations for travel to Uruguay

Uruguayan citizens vaccinated

Requirements:

  1. Vaccination:  Have received the single dose or the two doses against the SARS-CoV-2 virus (as corresponds to the type of vaccine supplied) approved by their country of origin, within the last 9 (nine) months prior to shipment and fulfilled the respective waiting periods to achieve effective immunity. They must prove vaccination and compliance with the aforementioned deadlines, by means of a certificate issued by the health authority of their country of origin.

  2. Test prior to admission:  Accredit a negative result of the SARS-CoV-2 virus detection test (by PCR-RT molecular biology technique), carried out no more than 72 (seventy-two) hours before the start of the trip, in a authorized laboratory in the country of origin or transit. In the event that the entry into the country is through a means of commercial passenger transport, the accreditation of the negative test must be carried out prior to boarding with the corresponding company. Minors under 6 years of age are exempt from doing so.

  3. Post-admission test:  Carry out a new RT-PCR test on the seventh day of stay in the national territory or perform mandatory preventive social isolation for 14 (fourteen) days after entering the country. Minors under 18 (eighteen) years of age are exempt from taking the test and isolation.

  4. Affidavit:  Complete the electronic form within 48 (forty-eight) hours prior to boarding, which will have the character of an affidavit.

 

Uruguayan citizens who already had the COVID-19 disease within the last 90 (ninety) days prior to boarding or arrival in the country

Requirements:

  1. Prove the disease:  Present the positive result of the test by molecular biology technique PCR-RT or antigen detection test, carried out between a maximum of 90 (ninety) days and up to 20 (twenty) days prior to shipment or arrival in the country. It must be attached to the Affidavit and submitted to the company they are traveling with prior to boarding.

  2. Pre-admission test:  They do not need to take one.

  3. Post-admission test:  They do not need to take a test on the seventh day.

  4. Affidavit:  Complete the electronic form within 48 (forty-eight) hours prior to boarding, which will have the character of an affidavit.

 

All other Uruguayan citizens

Requirements:

  1. Test prior to admission:  Accredit a negative result of the SARS-CoV-2 virus detection test (by PCR-RT molecular biology technique), carried out no more than 72 (seventy-two) hours before the start of the trip, in a authorized laboratory in the country of origin or transit. In the event that the entry into the country is through a means of commercial passenger transport, the accreditation of the negative test must be carried out prior to boarding with the corresponding company. Minors under 6 years of age are exempt from doing so.

  2. Mandatory preventive social isolation and post-admission test:  Comply with the mandatory preventive social isolation for a period of 7 (seven) days, having to perform a new PCR-RT test on the seventh day of stay in the national territory or extend the mandatory preventive social isolation by seven more days, reaching 14 (fourteen) days from entering the country. If you stay in Uruguay for less than 7 days, you should not take this test. Minors under 18 (eighteen) years of age are exempt from taking the test and isolation.

  3. Affidavit:  Complete the electronic form within 48 (forty-eight) hours prior to boarding, which will have the character of an affidavit.

 

  1. Entry regime for foreign citizens

Vaccinated foreign citizens

Requirements:

  1. Non-vaccinated foreigners may enter the country only if they prove in the exceptional entry process that they correspond to one of the groups established in article 2 of  Decree No. 104/020 .

  2. Test prior to admission:  Accredit a negative result of the SARS-CoV-2 virus detection test (by PCR-RT molecular biology technique), carried out no more than 72 (seventy-two) hours before the start of the trip, in a authorized laboratory in the country of origin or transit. In the event that the entry into the country is through a means of commercial passenger transport, the accreditation of the negative test must be carried out prior to boarding with the corresponding company. Minors under 6 years of age are exempt from doing so.

Measures after entering the country

  1. Undergo body temperature control at the point of entry into the country.

  2. Use a face mask appropriately (covering the mouth, nose and chin), in the opportunities of contact, less than two meters away with other people.

  3. Have health coverage in Uruguay.

  4. Comply with the contagion prevention measures that the health authority determines.
