Sleeping inside or in nearby hotels (IGU)
Possibility to spend the night at Foz do Iguaçu airport (IGU), if open 24 hours. Services available, places to rest (free resting zones), or look for the list of nearby hotels and vip lounges.
Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Foz do Iguaçu International Airport (IGU) remains open 24 hours a day, allowing passengers to wait inside the terminal if they have an early morning flight or a long layover. However, as it is a compact airport, amenities for overnight rest are limited.
Where to rest
Public Areas: The most frequented place to rest is the food court located on the second floor (mezzanine). There you can find tables and chairs, and it is a relatively quiet zone during the night. Since the seats usually have armrests and the floor is a hard surface, it is recommended to have a sleeping bag or blankets if you plan to lie on the floor.
VIP Lounges: There are options such as Advantage VIP Lounge and The Lounge Cataratas, which offer greater comfort and privacy. However, they are not open all night (they close between 8:00 pm and midnight), so they are not a solution for staying overnight until dawn.
Temperature: The air conditioning is usually strong, so it is essential to bring extra warm clothing.
Luggage
For the convenience of passengers wishing to move freely or visit the city before their flight, the airport offers storage options:
- Lockers (Malex): Automated lockers located in the external area, in front of the terminal.
- Left Luggage: Manned service available in the central hall.
Hours: Generally operational from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm (check on-site for nighttime hours).
Eating and Drinking
Dining options decrease significantly during the early morning hours. While there are establishments in the food court (such as coffee shops or cheese bread places) that may operate 24 hours, this depends on the season and flight flow. It is recommended to have provisions or snacks in case the main venues are closed. There are also vending machines available.
Wi-Fi and Charging
Internet access is free through the official airport network (CCR Aeroportos). Unlike older systems, the connection is usually unlimited or renewable, allowing continuous use during the wait. You will find power outlets to recharge devices mainly in the food court and near the boarding gates.
Nearby Accommodation
If you prefer uninterrupted rest, the airport's location on the tourist route facilitates quick access to numerous hotels (such as Hotel Colonial or Sanma Hotel) which are less than 5 minutes away by taxi or transfer.
Booking accommodation
Hotels
Although there are no hotels inside the terminal building, Foz do Iguaçu Airport is strategically located on the Rodovia das Cataratas, a tourist corridor where numerous accommodations are concentrated. This allows finding options at a very short distance (less than a 5-minute drive) from both the airport and the entrance to the National Park.
