Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area
Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.
Spending the night at the airport
As Fort Lauderdale Airport is open 24 hours a day, you can spend the night inside, staying in the public areas of the terminals once the security checkpoints close at night. Keep in mind that the air conditioning is strong and cleaning takes place at night, so it's recommended to bring something warm and earplugs.
Where to rest: Most seats have armrests, but you may find some more comfortable chairs in the baggage claim areas, the car rental center, and the check-in area of Terminal 2. There are also a few armrest-free seats near gates F and G in Terminal 4. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 have VIP lounges with more amenities, but they close at night. There are no hotels inside the airport, but many nearby accommodations offer free shuttle services.
Baggage: Luggage storage service in all four terminals, from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm.
Eating and drinking: The only option open overnight is located in the E-F connector hallway of Terminal 3.
Wi-Fi: Free and unlimited.
Other services available around the clock: ATMs, nursing rooms.
