Issues to resolve with the Airline before or after the trip (Updated 2026)
Many passengers do not know who to contact or how to file a complaint when doubts or problems arise before or after a trip. Below are the key topics that should be checked, coordinated or resolved directly with the airline, ideally well in advance.

In addition to a visa, many countries require your passport to remain valid for a minimum period (often 3 to 6 months) beyond your arrival or departure date. It is not always enough for it to be valid until your return. Confirm the requirement with the airline and the embassy of your destination country before checking in online.
Luggage limits, prohibited items and cabin baggage rules in Europe
In July 2026 the EU approved a reform of air passenger rights that guarantees a free personal item (up to 40 x 30 x 15 cm) that fits under the seat. Under EU Regulation 261/2004, flights covered by the rule that arrive 3 hours or more late, or are cancelled at short notice, may entitle you to compensation of €250 to €600 depending on the distance, unless the airline proves extraordinary circumstances. A reform approved in July 2026 keeps these amounts and the 3-hour threshold, and adds new deadlines for claims; it is expected to apply from 2027. Keep your boarding pass, receipts and all communications with the airline.

Many airlines allow small pets in the cabin with prior booking and a fee, but spaces per flight are limited, so reserve early.
