Cluj "Avram Iancu" International Airport (CLJ), opened on 1 April 1932, is the main air terminal of the Transylvania region and the second-busiest aerodrome in Romania. Terminals

The airport has two passenger terminals located in adjoining buildings that operate 24 hours a day. The facilities are functionally divided into a Departures Terminal and an Arrivals Terminal, allowing passengers to walk between them due to their close proximity.

Information Points

In the departures terminal hall there is a general information desk where assistance is provided regarding flights and airport services. Opening hours are usually Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and weekends from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The airport is located 9 km (5.6 miles) east of the city of Cluj-Napoca, in the Someseni area.

The airport complex features parking areas monitored by a 24-hour video surveillance system, strategically distributed to facilitate access to the Departures and Arrivals terminals. The facilities offer options both for short stops and for longer stays.

Kiss & Fly Zone

Located directly in front of the terminals, this area is intended exclusively for the quick drop-off and pick-up of passengers. Access is free for the first 10 minutes. After this period, the applicable hourly rates will be charged.

West and East Car Parks

There are two main parking areas that operate independently:

• West Car Park (Parcare Vest): Managed directly by the airport and located in front of the Arrivals terminal. It is suitable for both short and long stays.
• East Car Park (Parcare Est): Operated by the company GOTO Parking, it is located in front of the Departures terminal.

Payment: Payment must be made before collecting the vehicle at the automatic machines located in the car parks. Cash (local currency) and credit or debit cards are accepted.

Assistance for Reduced Mobility

Passengers requiring special assistance should notify their airline or travel agency at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight. This allows airport staff to prepare the necessary equipment and resources for your arrival.

• Meeting points: Upon arriving at the airport, you may request help at the check-in counters or at the designated assistance points.
• Infrastructure: The terminal has access ramps, suitably sized lifts, and adapted toilets in the public areas and boarding lounges.
• Parking: There are reserved and clearly marked spaces in the car park in front of the terminals for vehicles transporting passengers with disabilities.

Travelling with Children

To facilitate the journey for families travelling with babies and young children, the airport provides dedicated facilities:

• Baby care rooms: Spaces equipped with changing tables and comfortable areas for breastfeeding, located both in the departures and arrivals areas.
• Play area: In the Departures Terminal there is a children’s play area designed so that youngsters can enjoy themselves before boarding the aircraft.
• Pushchairs: The use of baby pushchairs is permitted up to the aircraft door, where ground staff will take them and place them in the hold.

Transporting Pets

If you plan to travel with your pet, it is essential to coordinate in advance with your airline regarding the specific transport requirements (carrier size, weight and applicable fees).

• Documentation: Make sure you have the European pet passport, an identification microchip, and valid vaccination certificates (especially for rabies).
• Regulations within the airport: Animals must remain inside their carriers or be properly restrained while they are inside the terminals.
• Security checkpoints: During security screening, the animal must pass through the scanner outside its carrier or be inspected according to the instructions of the security officers.
