Spending the Night at the Airport

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport operates 24 hours a day, making it viable for passengers with late arrivals, early morning departures, or overnight connections to wait inside the terminal complex.

Where to Rest

Airside areas of the South Terminal offer the most comfortable and secure seating. Along Concourse C (particularly near gates C1 and C9) and Concourse B, travelers can find rows of seats without armrests where it is possible to lie flat. The Concourse C Mezzanine (housing the Native Art Gallery) and the Northern Lights Corridor offer quieter spots with diminished foot traffic during the night.

24-Hour Food & Amenities

Overnight dining is limited; however, the post-security McDonald's on Concourse C operates 24 hours. In addition, automated snack and drink vending machines are located across both terminal levels.

Security, Temperatures & Travel Tips

The airport is continuously patrolled by airport police officers. Terminal lighting remains fully illuminated throughout the night and public announcements run periodically, so a sleep mask and noise-canceling headphones or earplugs are highly recommended (especially during Alaskan summer months with prolonged daylight). Terminal temperatures can drop considerably during winter, making a warm jacket or compact travel blanket advisable.
