Requirements for Renting a Car in Croatia

  • Minimum age: 18 years, although most agencies require at least 21 or 26 years old; surcharges apply for drivers under 25.
  • A valid driving licence held for at least one year; in some cases and routes, an International Driving Permit may be required.
  • A valid identity document or passport.
  • A credit card in the main driver’s name for deposits or excess charges; debit cards and cash payments are generally not accepted.
  • Some rentals charge an additional fee for extra drivers.

What to consider:
 
  1. Certify that you have a valid driver's license to drive in the destination country. If you are a foreigner, check if you need to validate your license in your country of origin. It should be noted that the International permit is NOT valid by itself, it must always be accompanied by the National Driver's License.
