Requirements to Rent a Vehicle

To rent a car in Norway, you will generally need to meet the following requirements:

• Driving licence: A valid driving licence held for at least one year is required. Licences issued in EU/EEA countries are accepted. For other countries, it is recommended to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) together with the original licence.
• Minimum age: Most agencies require drivers to be at least 19 or 21 years old. Please note that drivers under 25 are usually subject to an additional “young driver” surcharge.
• Credit card: A credit card in the name of the main driver is required to place the security deposit (pre-authorisation).
• Identification: A valid passport or national identity card for EU citizens.
