Requirements to Rent a Vehicle

Although each provider has its own policies, the standard requirements at the airport offices are as follows:

• Driving licence: You must present an original, valid driving licence held for at least one year. If your licence was issued outside the European Union, an International Driving Permit is also mandatory.
• Minimum age: Generally 21 years old, although some companies allow rentals from the age of 18 subject to payment of a “young driver” surcharge.
• Credit card: A physical credit card in the name of the main driver is required to block the security deposit. Most agencies do not accept debit or prepaid cards for this purpose.
• Documentation: A valid passport or national identity document to verify the identity of the driver and any additional drivers.
