Sleeping inside or in nearby hotels (SUF)

Possibility to spend the night at Lamezia Terme airport (SUF), if open 24 hours. Services available, places to rest (free resting zones), or look for the list of nearby hotels and vip lounges.

Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area

Please note that some published services and schedules may be subject to change. If the idea is to spend the night in the public area, consider a plan B in case the stay inside the airport is only allowed for those who are about to board.

Although the airport remains open 24 hours a day, it is not a facility designed for extended rest. Spending the night in the terminal is usually a last resort for passengers with very early flights or forced layovers due to delays.

Where to rest

Sleeping facilities are limited. Most seating in both public and boarding areas is made of metal and fitted with fixed armrests, which prevents passengers from lying down along them. The most common option among travellers is to use the floor in less busy areas, making a sleeping bag or thermal blankets essential, as the floor is cold and the air conditioning is usually kept strong throughout the night.

For uninterrupted rest, the recommended option is to stay at one of the hotels located within 2 km, such as the Hotel Sogni d'Oro Airport, which offers greater comfort and shuttle services.

Food and Drink

Please note that all cafés and restaurants close after the last scheduled flight (generally around midnight) and do not reopen until 5:00 am or 6:00 am. During the early hours, access is limited to vending machines offering coffee, cold drinks and snacks throughout the building.

Luggage and Security

Currently, there are no left-luggage facilities or lockers in the terminal. You will need to keep your belongings with you at all times.

Security staff usually allow overnight stays for passengers who can prove they have an early flight, but it is always advisable to keep a copy of your boarding pass or reservation handy.

Connectivity and 24-hour Services

  • Wi-Fi: The service is free for the first 30 minutes. After that time, you may need to reconnect or use your own mobile data.
  • Cash machines: ATMs in the main hall are accessible throughout the night.
  • Clinic: First-aid services are available for emergencies 24 hours a day.

Traveller tip: The terminal can be noisy due to overnight cleaning activities, and the lights remain on at full intensity, so an eye mask and earplugs are essential if you plan to try to sleep.

Hotels

Although the airport does not have a hotel within its terminal, there is a wide range of accommodation options located within a radius of less than 2 kilometres, making it easier for passengers with long layovers or early-morning flights to get some rest.

Nearby Hotels and Accommodation

  • B&B Tregì: As the closest accommodation, it is the ideal option for those seeking convenience, standing out for its practical self check-in system and a transport service available at any time of day or night.
  • Aerhotel Phelipe: Offers a conventional hotel experience with additional services such as a restaurant and meeting rooms, making it a strategic choice for business travellers.
  • La Culla B&B: Its main advantage lies in its welcoming atmosphere and well-balanced location, allowing easy access to both the airport terminal and the railway station within a few minutes.
  • B&B Aereostation: Located opposite Lamezia Terme Centrale railway station, it facilitates intermodal connections for passengers combining flights with train journeys to other Italian cities.
  • Hotel Sogni D'Oro Airport: Provides the comfort of a 3-star hotel with a reception open until late and soundproofed rooms, ensuring a restful stay very close to the runways.
