Macau International Airport, opened on November 9, 1995, is one of the most important in China. Being inside an administrative region, special immigration procedures are required for flights between mainland China and Macau. It is the main air connection link between China and Taiwan. It also operates with the main destinations in the Far East and Southeast Asia.

The airport is located 3 km (1.8 miles) to the south of Macau city centre, in an artificial island linked by a highway to the main territory.

The airport has banks, ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, post office and Wi-Fi access free of charge. The Plaza Premium Lounge is located next to gates 9/9A and opens from 5:00 am to 2:30 am; it provides refreshments, drinks, Wi-Fi, TV, air conditioning, newspapers and magazines, telephones, fax (access with Priority Pass, Lounge Club, DragonPass or Diners Club membership, through online booking or by paying at the door).
Food and Drinks- There are some coffee shops, restaurants and fast food outlets both before and after the security checkpoint.
Shopping- In the Departures lounge there are duty-free shops. On the first floor there is also a convenience store and shops selling souvenirs and accessories.
Baggage- Luggage storage and secure wrapping 24 hours a day on the Departures level. The lost and found office is handled by the airport police (Tel +853 8898 1353).

There are car rental desks from companies Avis (Tel +853 2833 6789 / 2870 1786 - 8:00 am to 10:00 pm) and Happy Mokes (Tel +853 2843 9393 / 2872 6868).
The enclosure has two outdoor car parks, located at both ends of the terminal building. Vehicles parked for the first 9 hours are charged by the hour, but over 10 hours the daily fee will apply.
