Cheddi Jagan International Airport, opened on June 14, 1941, is the main air station in Guyana. It operates with international destinations in the Caribbean, the United States and Panama.

 Location

The airport is located on the right bank of the Demerara River, in the city of Timehri, 41 km (25 miles) to the south of the capital, Georgetown.

The airport has ATMs, plugs for electric devices, mobile phone services and free Wi-Fi access. The Roraima Airways Executive Lounge is found next to the Public Departures area access ramp and opens from 3:00 am to 11:00 pm; it provides refreshments, drinks, telephones, fax, TV, air conditioning, newspapers and magazines (access with Priority Pass, Lounge Club or DragonPass membership, or by paying at the door - USD40.00).

Car rental agencies

National, Enterprise and Alamo (Tel +592 261 3000) have desks in the vicinity of the Temporary Arrivals Terminal Building (TATB), available from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. To rent a vehicle, you must first have a Temporary Drivers License, which can be obtained at the Arrival's Customs Department. Just ask a Customer Service Representative for assistance.
