Belém / Val-de-Cans Júlio Cezar Ribeiro International Airport, opened on January 24, 1959, is one of the largest, busiest and most modern in Brazil. It operates with domestic flights to all major destinations in the country and with some international flights in northern South America, the United States and Portugal.

The airport is located in the city of Val de Cans, 12 km (8 miles) to the north of Belém.

The airport has a bank (10:00 am to 3:00 pm), ATMs, post office and free Wi-Fi access in 1-hour sessions. The Sala VIP Valeverde lounge opens around the clock and is situated on the second floor, next to gate 1; it offers computers, snacks, showers, newspapers and magazines, telephones, Wi-Fi, TV, air conditioning, drinks, conference facilities, fax (access with Priority Pass or Diners Club membership).
Food and Drinks- Restaurants, coffee shops, bars, pizza places, icecream stores and fast food outlets on both levels. Many of them open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- On the top floor there are duty-free shops, while throughout the enclosure you can find stores selling sweets, souvenirs, handicrafts, jewellery, accessories, fashion.
Baggage- 24-hour secure luggage wrapping on the ground floor (Tel +55 91 3210 6550). Left luggage service in the check-in hall, available around the clock (Tel +55 91 8128 5501). The lost and found office is situated in the supervision room and operates from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm (Tel +55 91 3210 2421 / 2652).

Bus - There are several lines that travel from the airport to the city centre (journey time: around 30 minutes), through different routes: Pratinha Pte. Vargas (Júlio Cesar - Barroso - José Malcher - Vargas), CDP - Providência (Gavião - Rio Tapajós - Pardal - Santos Dumont - Júlio Cesar - Municipalidade - Castilho França - Tamandaré - Gama Abreu - Nazaré - Barroso - Ceará), Pratinha Ver-o-Peso (Júlio Cesar - Álvares Cabral - Castilho França - Assis de Vasconcelos - Álvares Cabral - Senador Lemos), Marex-Arsenal (Marex - Júlio Cesar - Pará - Arthur Bernardes - Álvares Cabral - Municipalidade - José Malcher - Castilho França - Champagnat - Tamandaré).
Taxi - Metered cabs available around the clock outside the Arrivals and Departures Halls. The trip to the city centre takes approximately 30 minutes.
