Terminals

The airport complex operates two separate passenger terminals, both open 24 hours. TSA security checkpoints close overnight and reopen between 4:00 am and 4:30 am:

• Edward H. McNamara Terminal: houses Concourses A, B, and C, exclusively serving Delta Air Lines and its SkyTeam alliance partners.
• Warren Cleage Evans Terminal: houses Concourse D and serves all other non-SkyTeam airlines, Star Alliance and Oneworld carriers, low-cost airlines, and charter operations.

Inter-Terminal Connection: Both terminals are not connected post-security. Free 24/7 courtesy shuttles (Terminal-to-Terminal Shuttles) depart approximately every 10 minutes from each terminal's Ground Transportation Center, also stopping at The Westin. Transferring between terminals requires re-clearing TSA security.

Internal Connection (McNamara Terminal): The automated overhead ExpressTram travels along the 1-mile length of Concourse A, connecting three stations: North Station (gates A56 to A78), South Station (gates A1 to A28), and Central Station (gates A29 to A55, and the underground pedestrian tunnel to Concourses B and C).

Information counters are situated in the arrivals halls of both terminals, supported by the Airport Ambassadors volunteer team, easily recognized by their branded vests across key areas of the facility.

The airport is located in Romulus, 20 miles (32 km) southwest of downtown Detroit, Michigan.

All car rental companies operate off-site at a centralized campus located on Lucas Drive in the northeast quadrant of the airport. Free courtesy shuttle buses run continuously from each terminal's Ground Transportation Center (McNamara Garage Level 4 and Evans Big Blue Deck Level 1) to the rental facility. Vehicle returns are handled at the Lucas Drive lots, where passengers board returning shuttles back to their departure terminal.

Multi-Sensory Room: located across from gate A36 in McNamara Terminal. Free, quiet 24/7 space for autistic or sensory-sensitive passengers; featuring bubble tubes, tactile walls, and calming seating. Entry is unlocked via a phone call code posted at the entrance.

Nursing Rooms: 9 private mother and infant rooms across the airport (McNamara: gates A18, A25, A53, A63, C2; Evans: near gates D8, D15, D24). Each room includes a recliner, sink, electric outlets, and private phone-secured lock.

Unaccompanied Minors

Unaccompanied minor transit is coordinated with each operating airline. Authorized guardians can obtain a security escort gate pass at the airline check-in counter to accompany or meet the child at the boarding gate.
