Teniente Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, opened on December 1964, is the second busiest in Peru. It operates with national destinations and international flights to Chile. Because of the danger posed by its urban setting, it is expected to be replaced by the new Chinchero Airport, situated on the outskirts of Cusco.
