Teniente Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, opened in December 1964, is the second most important in Peru. It operates domestic destinations and international flights to Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, and Ecuador. Due to its danger due to being located in the middle of the urban area, it is planned to be replaced by the new Chinchero Airport, located on the outskirts of Cusco.

The airport is located within the downtown area of Cusco, 4 km (2.5 miles) east of the historic center.
