Buses and Trains

Auckland’s public transport system is managed by Auckland Transport (AT). To use these services, you can pay with a contactless debit or credit card directly on the bus reader, or with the rechargeable AT HOP card, which offers discounted fares. AT HOP cards can be purchased from vending machines next to Gate 4 of the Domestic Terminal, at Stop A of the Transport Hub, or at the Take Home Convenience shop in the International Terminal.

AirportLink: This is the fastest option for reaching the city centre. It connects both terminals with Puhinui train station in approximately 10–15 minutes. From Puhinui, you can take trains on the Southern or Eastern lines to Britomart (Auckland city centre). The service runs every 10 minutes from 4:30 am to 12:40 am. Stops are located at Stop B of the Domestic Terminal and at Stop A of the International Terminal Transport Hub.

Route 38: Connects the airport with Onehunga and Mangere Town Centre. It operates every 15–20 minutes, daily, with stops at both terminals.

SkyDrive: Express bus service offering direct transfers between the airport and SkyCity in central Auckland. Buses depart every 30 minutes between 5:00 am and 10:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased directly from the driver or on its website.

InterCity: For regional travel to other North Island cities, long-distance buses operate from Stop E at the International Terminal. It is recommended to book in advance.

Taxis and Shuttles

Authorised ranks are located outside Gate 11 of the International Terminal and Gate 4 of the Domestic Terminal. Licensed companies operating at the airport include Auckland Co-op Taxis, Alert Taxis, Cheap Cabs and Corporate Cabs. The journey to the city centre takes around 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

Super Shuttle: Offers a shared door-to-door transport service. It is an economical option if travelling with a lot of luggage or in a group. Its operating bases are located next to the taxi ranks at both terminals.

App-Based Transport

Uber is available at the airport. Designated pick-up areas are:

• International Terminal: Outside Gate 11.
• Domestic Terminal: In Lane 2 next to Gate 2 (Zone A), very close to the arrivals area.

Please note that an additional airport pick-up and drop-off fee applies and is added to the final fare in the app.
