Sleeping inside or in nearby hotels at SYR Airport

Overnight layover guide: sleeping options in the public area and the boarding area

Terminal Hours and Overnight Stays

The airport terminal is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, the TSA passenger screening checkpoint closes between 21:00 and 03:30. Travelers who have not cleared security before the checkpoint closes must remain landside (in public pre-security areas) until security reopens in the morning.

Sleeping Regulations and Rest Areas

Under Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) rules, sleeping in public terminal areas between 02:00 and 04:00 is restricted unless officially authorized, which routinely accommodates travelers affected by flight disruptions or late-night cancellations. Continuous armrest-free benches and seats are located on the lower arrivals and ticketing levels. The facility remains brightly lit overnight, making an eye mask and earplugs advisable.

Overnight Food and Drinks

During the night, dining options are centered on the Automated Retail Lounge on Level 1 of the Center Terminal, offering 24/7 automated hot meal machines and specialty coffee.

Security, Wi-Fi, and Facilities

Free Wi-Fi runs uninterrupted all night, and terminal premises are continuously monitored by the airport police department. Showers and luggage storage facilities are not available.

 Hotels

There are no hotels or sleeping capsules located directly inside the terminal building. Free direct-dial hotel phone banks are situated inside Baggage Claim A and Baggage Claim B on the ground floor.
