Ankara Airport offers a range of transport options connecting the terminal with key points in the capital, including the city centre (Kizilay) and the intercity bus terminal (ASTI). Services are located outside the arrivals hall exits.

Public Buses

Route 442, operated by the EGO General Directorate, is the public service linking the airport with central Ankara and the ASTI terminal. It is an efficient and economical option for travelling throughout the day.

Timetable: The service operates 24 hours a day.

Payment: To use this service, you can pay with the AnkaraKart or with contactless credit/debit cards directly on the bus.

Private Transfers

The company Havas operates a shuttle service connecting the airport with the ASTI terminal. Departures are coordinated with flight arrival times, ensuring constant availability for passengers.

Route: The journey includes strategic stops in Pursaklar, Hasköy, Aydinlikevler, Keçiören Bridge, Etlik Junction, Akköprü and Gazi Hospital. The estimated travel time is 50 minutes.

Taxis

The service is managed by the Esenboga Taxi Association and operates 24 hours a day. Official taxi ranks can be found outside the exit doors of both the arrivals and departures areas (domestic and international).

Recommendation: Taxis operate with a meter. It is advisable to confirm that the driver starts the meter at the beginning of the journey to your destination.

Tips for getting to and from ESB

Going to the airport

  1. Leave earlier than you think you need to: Ankara airport is 28 km from Ankara. Allow for rush-hour traffic, strikes or events, and check the local news before you go.
  2. On public transportation, check the schedule (weekends and holidays usually have fewer services), whether you need to change lines and how to pay: transit card, contactless or cash.
  3. If you booked a shared shuttle, keep the company's phone number at hand in case the pickup is late.
  4. Returning a rental car? Follow the signs to the rental car return area. If you drive your own car, check parking at ESB.

Leaving the airport

  1. After baggage claim and customs, follow the ground transportation signs. The arrivals page has a step-by-step guide.
  2. Arriving late at night? Not every bus or train runs 24 hours: check the last departure in advance. Ride-hailing apps usually pick up at a designated zone, not at the curb.
  3. With a private transfer, the driver usually waits in the arrivals hall with a sign with your name.
  4. Looking for the taxi rank, the train station or the rental desks, or meeting someone? See the ESB airport map and share a meeting point.
  5. Renting a car? Booking ahead gives you better rates; see car rental at ESB.
  6. Staying near the airport? See hotels and overnight stay or hotels near ESB.
