Thanks to its prime riverfront location adjacent to central Washington, D.C., Reagan National Airport provides one of the fastest transit links of any major North American airport, connecting passengers to the National Mall and downtown within 15 to 20 minutes.

Metro (Metrorail)

The elevated Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport station is directly connected to Terminal 2's Concourse level via enclosed pedestrian bridges. Passengers arriving at Terminal 1 can walk via the covered pedestrian pathway or ride the complimentary On-Airport Shuttle.

Lines and routes:

• Blue Line: Connects north to Rosslyn, Metro Center, L'Enfant Plaza, and Downtown Largo; connects south to Alexandria and Franconia-Springfield.
• Yellow Line: Crosses into D.C. towards L'Enfant Plaza, Gallery Place, and Mt Vernon Square; connects south towards Huntington.

Hours: Monday to Thursday 5:00 am - 12:00 am; Friday 5:00 am - 1:00 am; Saturday 7:00 am - 1:00 am; Sunday 7:00 am - 12:00 am.

Fares and payment: Fares range between $2.25 and $6.00 based on time of day and travel distance. Fare gates accept SmarTrip cards (physical or digital wallet) as well as contactless credit/debit bank cards.

Ride-sharing Apps

Uber, Lyft, and ALTO operate at designated curbside pick-up points marked with green signs:

• Terminal 1: Exit the baggage claim level doors and cross to the Third Outer Curb (Curb 3).
• Terminal 2: On Level 1 (Arrivals / Baggage Claim), proceed to the outer roadway marked as Zones 1 through 4.
• Rental Car Center: Pick-up stop located directly across from the bus shelter along National Avenue.

Taxicab service at Reagan National operates 24/7 on a first-come, first-served basis at designated curbside stands managed by uniformed dispatchers who organize queues by destination (Washington, D.C., Virginia, or Maryland).

Stand locations:

• Terminal 1: Outside the baggage claim exit doors, turn right along the curb closest to the terminal building.
• Terminal 2: On the ground level (Level 1 arrivals), exit via doors 5 or 6 to the outer curb marked Taxi Dispatch.

• Downtown Washington D.C.: USD 20.00 - 25.00 (15 to 20 minutes travel time).
• Arlington, VA: USD 15.00 - 20.00.

• Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD): USD 70.00 - 75.00.

A mandatory airport surcharge of USD 2.50 applies per trip. Drivers accept cash and all major credit cards and are required to provide a printed receipt upon request.
