Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, opened as a civil airport on 12 December 1956, is one of the most important in China and serves the city-sub-province of Chengdu. Due to the large decrease in international traffic at major airports due to the Coronavirus pandemic, in 2021, Chengdu Airport ranked as the second busiest not only in China, but in the whole of Asia (second only to Guangzhou Airport). In addition to numerous domestic destinations, it operates some international flights to neighbouring countries.
