Overnight Access and Terminal Hours

Charlotte Airport is open 24 hours a day. Travelers with connecting flights departing the following morning who are already inside the secure area are generally allowed to remain airside overnight. If arriving from the city or retrieving checked baggage landside, note that TSA security checkpoints shut down overnight (roughly between 11:00 pm and 3:45 am), requiring you to wait in the public landside areas until morning security screening resumes.

Temperature and Noise: Air conditioning runs cool throughout the night, so having an extra warm layer or travel blanket is essential. Bright lighting and nighttime terminal floor scrubbers can be disruptive; earplugs and a sleep mask are recommended.

Sleeping and Rest Areas

• Gate Seating: Most waiting area benches feature fixed metal armrests that prevent lying flat. Relatively quieter padded seating with power access can be found in the Concourse A Connector and around gates C12 to C14.
• Rocking Chairs: CLT's signature white rocking chairs in the Atrium and concourses offer comfortable upright rest, though they are unsuitable for sleeping.
• Landside Public Area: Rest options outside security are very limited. Passengers needing to stay landside often settle on carpeted areas under the baggage claim escalators or on upper Atrium benches.
• Minute Suites: For private sleep in a bed, quiet private rooms can be booked by the hour in the Atrium and D/E Connector.

Overnight Services

• Baggage Storage: No left-luggage storage exists on airport grounds; you must keep your bags with you at all times.
• Late-Night Dining: Most concessionaires close between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm, reopening around 4:30 am to 5:00 am. Automated vending machines and self-checkout grab-and-go marts remain available 24/7.
• Showers: Free public showers are not available in the terminal; showers can only be accessed for a fee inside Minute Suites.
• Wi-Fi: Free high-speed Wi-Fi operates continuously throughout all terminal zones.
• Quiet Spaces: The Interfaith Chapel on the Atrium mezzanine and nursing rooms remain open during the night.
