Although Palmerola Airport remains open 24 hours a day, spending the night in the terminal requires taking certain comfort, temperature, and commercial availability limitations into account, especially if you have an early-morning flight or a long overnight layover.

Conditions for Spending the Night

If you decide to wait for your flight overnight inside the terminal, keep the following characteristics of the facilities in mind:

• Public Area and Security Checkpoints: Immigration and security checkpoints leading to the boarding area usually close after the last flight of the night departs and reopen in the early morning (around 3:30 or 4:00 a.m., when morning check-in begins). Therefore, for most of the night, you will need to remain in the public area (landside) of the departures or arrivals hall.
• Seating and Rest: The benches in the public area are made of metal, and most have fixed armrests between seats, making it difficult to lie down comfortably. If you plan to rest on the floor, it is highly recommended to bring a small sleeping mat or travel sleeping pad.
• Temperature and Lighting: The building's air-conditioning system operates continuously and tends to make the terminal quite cold at night. Likewise, the terminal's general lighting is not dimmed for operational safety reasons. It is recommended to bring warm clothing or a light blanket, as well as an eye mask and earplugs.
• Security on the Premises: The terminal has private security patrols and 24-hour closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitoring. Security officers may ask to see your passport and itinerary or flight ticket at any time to verify that you are in transit for a flight the following day.

• Dining and Shopping: All restaurants, chain cafés, and retail stores close after the last evening departures and resume service between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m. It is essential to purchase bottled water and snacks before the stores close.
• VIP Lounge: The airport's VIP lounge does not operate continuously overnight (its usual service hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.), so it is not a viable option for spending the night.
• Internet and Device Charging: The airport's free Wi-Fi network remains operational without interruption, and power outlets are available at several pillars and areas of the hall for charging mobile phones or laptops.

For a proper night's sleep in a bed, the best option is to book a room at one of the accommodations near the terminal, particularly Tru By Hilton Distrito Palmerola (less than 1 km from the airport entrance), or choose one of the hotels and guesthouses in Comayagua, located approximately 10 to 15 minutes away by authorized taxi.
