Requirements for Renting a Vehicle

To rent and pick up a car at Cibao International Airport, agencies generally require the following documentation and conditions:

• Minimum age: The standard minimum age is usually 21 (some companies raise the minimum to 25 depending on the vehicle category). Drivers between 21 and 24 are typically subject to a young driver surcharge.
• Driver's license: A valid, current physical driver's license issued by the driver's country of origin, held for at least one or two years. If the license is not in the Latin alphabet or Spanish, carrying an International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended.
• Passport or official identification: A valid passport (or national identification card for Dominican citizens and residents).
• Credit card: An international credit card in the name of the primary driver, with sufficient available credit to cover the security deposit hold. Debit cards and cash are generally not accepted for this purpose.
• Insurance: Purchase of the mandatory third-party liability coverage required by local traffic regulations at the time of vehicle pickup.
