Sleeping inside or in nearby hotels at STI Airport
Can you spend the night at Cibao airport (STI)? Find out if the airport is open 24 hours, which services and free rest areas are available, and the nearby hotels and VIP lounges.
Overnight layover guide: sleeping options in the public area and the boarding area
Cibao International Airport remains open 24 hours a day, allowing you to spend the night inside the terminal building if you have an early-morning flight, a long overnight layover, or a schedule change.
Where to Rest and Recommendations
Resting areas within the public sections of the terminal are limited. Most of the metal seats in the waiting areas have fixed armrests that prevent passengers from lying down horizontally, so those who choose to sleep generally do so on the floor. For greater comfort, it is highly recommended to bring a blanket, warm clothing, or a sleeping bag, as the air conditioning system tends to keep temperatures quite cold throughout the night. The terminal has private security and continuous surveillance, providing a safe environment.
If you prefer greater comfort, the Turquesa Lounge (located in the arrivals area of the International Terminal) operates 24 hours a day and allows access through membership programs or by paying for entry for a maximum stay of 3 hours. For optimal and extended rest, there are hotels near the airport that offer shuttle service.
Baggage Storage
The terminal does not have lockers, baggage storage facilities, or a luggage storage service. If you spend the night at the airport, you will need to stay with your luggage and keep an eye on your belongings at all times.
Food and Drinks During the Night
The vast majority of restaurants, cafés, and food court outlets close for the night after the last scheduled flight departs and reopen early in the morning. For this reason, it is advisable to purchase snacks and drinks before the shops close or bring your own supplies if you plan to spend the night in the terminal.
Connectivity
Free access to the airport's Wi-Fi network is available 24 hours a day throughout all public waiting areas and transit areas.
