Staying overnight at the airport

Where to rest: While there is accommodation directly connected to the terminals or nearby, not all passengers are willing to pay for an overnight stay when their flight departs early in the morning. It is possible to spend the early hours of the morning inside the airport, as it is open 24 hours a day, although shops close after midnight and only start to open around 6:00 am.

Both terminals have seats with armrests, so you'll have to sleep either seated or on the floor. The exception is the waiting areas by gates A1-10 and A81-83, which have more comfortable armchairs, as does the chapel in Terminal 1. One of the cafeterias on the first floor of Terminal 1 has more comfortable benches, while around the central area, there are also armchairs.

Terminal 1 is larger than Terminal 2, and Terminal 2 is also home to EasyJet's low-cost flights, so the seats are often full. Within Terminal 1, there are also a number of VIP lounges for more budget passengers. Note that these close at night and the maximum stay is usually 2 hours. Make sure you bring plenty of warm clothes, as the air conditioning is often very strong, even at night and in winter.

Eating and drinking: Only a few vending machines are available at night.

Luggage: Luggage storage closes at 9:00 pm and reopens at 7:00 am. Therefore, if your flight leaves early in the morning, you will have to carry your bags all night until you can check in.

Restrooms: Showers are only available in the VIP lounges.

Wi-Fi: Within the airport, there is a free and unlimited service, albeit at slow speed. If you want more speed, you can upgrade to a premium plan by registering in advance or paying for a package.

Other services available around the clock: Baby care facilities, children playgrounds, ATMs.

ZZZleepandGo sleeping pods are available in the Terminal 1 boarding area, next to Gate 12, while the Sheraton Milan Malpensa Airport Hotel & Conference Centre has direct access to Terminal 1 and the MOXY Milan Malpensa Airport is directly opposite Terminal 2. Several alternatives can be found in the surrounding area, some with shuttle buses to and from the airport.
