Public transportation services, licensed taxis and rideshare, private transfer companies and car rental services in Munich airport (MUC)
Every 10 minutes, S-Bahn München trains (Tel +49 89 5589 2665) depart between 4:04 am and 1:44 am towards the city centre from the airport’s two stations: one located beneath the central area between both terminals and the other at Besucherpark. Two lines offer this service: S1 and S8.
The S1 line (blue) connects the airport with central Munich, including the main station (München Hauptbahnhof) and Marienplatz, in approximately 45 and 50 minutes respectively. Other stops include Ostbahnhof/Munich East, Neufahrn, Moosach, Laim, and Karlsplatz.
The S8 line (yellow) links the airport with Johanneskirchen, Ostbahnhof/Munich East, Isartor, München Hauptbahnhof (in 40 minutes), Karlsplatz, Marienplatz, Laim, Pasing, and Herrsching.
For both lines, the ticket price is €14.30. Once at the city’s main station, you can connect to other destinations.
Additionally, the ÜFEX express train connects the airport directly with the cities of Regensburg, Landshut, Moosburg, and Freising from €17.80.
The Lufthansa Express Bus (Tel +49 8932 3040) travels to Schwabing / Nordfriedhof and Munich Central Station every 20 minutes between 6:25 am and 10:25 pm. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes and the fare is €12.00. Stops are located in front of Terminal 2, the Munich Airport Center, and Hall D of Terminal 1.
Lufthansa also operates an express service (Lufthansa Express Bus) to Nuremberg and Innsbruck, synchronised with the airline’s flight schedule. In addition, there are direct buses between the airport and Munich’s exhibition centre, with a fare of €11.00 (Messe München - Tel +49 89 949 20720).

Various companies provide transportation to different cities in Germany and other countries: Erding, Erlangen, Freising, Ingolstadt, Nuremberg, Prague, Schwaig, and Wartenberg.

Saloons and vans from IsarFunk (Tel +49 89 450 540) are available on level 4 of Terminal 1 and level 3 of Terminal 2, with a service desk also on level 3 of Terminal 2. The journey to the city centre takes around 45 minutes.
Car sharing is a great option for those who enjoy driving but do not need a vehicle around the clock. Several providers offer this service at the airport from car park P20, just 3 minutes from Terminal 2, via their apps: CarVia, MILES, SHARE NOW, Sixt Share, Wheego.
