Overnight layover guide. Sleeping facilities in the public zone or boarding area

Spending the night at the airport
Hamburg airport operates with numerous flights and connections. Therefore, it is frequent to see many passengers waiting for their flight departure during the night. Although the terminals are open 24 hours a day, layover passengers will have to remain in the Arrivals area after the security control closes for the night. On the other hand, entering the enclosure is not allowed from 1:00 am to 4:00 am.
Where to rest: There are no seats in the Arrivals area, so the only option to get some sleep is on the floor. It is recommended, therefore, to have a sleeping bag or blankets. There are also a few VIP lounges inside the airport, but these close at night. A hotel is connected to the terminals, and some other accommodations nearby offer free shuttle services.
Baggage: Luggage storage offices are only available from 4:30 am to 11:00 pm. This means you will have to keep your baggage with you until check-in.
Eating and drinking: Currently, there are no options open during the night.
Restrooms: Showers available at the Airport Plaza and in the VIP lounges.
Wi-Fi: Free for 24 hours.
Other services available around the clock: ATMs, children's play areas, prayer room, baby changing facilities.
