CVG is easily connected to downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky via interstate highways and ground transit options.

Public Transit Buses

Public metropolitan bus services are operated by TANK (Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky).

The 2X Airporter Route connects CVG directly to downtown Cincinnati and Covington. It runs daily from 4:30 am to 1:00 am, taking approximately 30 minutes with an affordable one-way fare of USD 1.50. Buses depart from the Ground Transport East zone outside the baggage claim level.

Additionally, Route 62 (CVG Campus Shuttle) links the airport terminal with the CVG Centre and Amazon Air logistic and hiring centers Monday through Friday between 8:20 am and 4:20 pm.

Taxis

Official airport taxicab service is provided 24 hours a day by zTrip outside the Ground Transport East area. A flat rate of approximately USD 34.00 applies for trips between the airport and downtown Cincinnati, with an estimated travel time of 25 to 35 minutes depending on traffic.

Ridesharing

App-based transportation providers such as Uber, Lyft, and Wridz are authorized to pick up passengers at the airport. The designated rideshare collection zone is located exiting the Baggage Claim level at Ground Transport East.

Tips for getting to and from CVG

Going to the airport

Leave earlier than you think you need to: Cincinnati airport is 20 km from Cincinnati. Allow for rush-hour traffic, strikes or events, and check the local news before you go.
On public transportation, check the schedule (weekends and holidays usually have fewer services), whether you need to change lines and how to pay: transit card, contactless or cash.
If you booked a shared shuttle, keep the company's phone number at hand in case the pickup is late.
Returning a rental car? Follow the signs to the rental car return area. If you drive your own car, check parking at CVG.

Leaving the airport

After baggage claim and customs, follow the ground transportation signs. The arrivals page has a step-by-step guide.
Arriving late at night? Not every bus or train runs 24 hours: check the last departure in advance. Ride-hailing apps usually pick up at a designated zone, not at the curb.
With a private transfer, the driver usually waits in the arrivals hall with a sign with your name.
