Covid-19: Regulations for travel to Norway

International travel to Norway is permitted for vaccinated travelers with valid certification in Norway. There are exceptions for unvaccinated citizens and those traveling for "essential reasons". You need to meet the requirements to ensure entry is allowed.

Exceptional travel

There are exemptions to the closure of the border for essential reasons, including business trips approved by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Fisheries. Tourist travel is not allowed unless fully vaccinated or recovered within Europe, the UK and other select countries. You can find a full list of exemptions at are revoked if another country has been visited in the last 10 days that is considered to have a virus variant. Travelers will not be allowed to enter. There are exemptions for citizens and residents who will need to meet additional testing and quarantine requirements, regardless of vaccination status. Full details can be found at

Vaccinations and travel rules for vaccinated people

Travelers presenting an accepted certificate of complete vaccination against COVID-19, using an approved vaccine, may enter without essential reason and are exempt from pre-departure testing and quarantine requirements. The certificate must include a QR code and the final dose must have been administered at least 14 days prior to departure. The vaccine and certificate must have been issued in Europe, the UK or other selected countries. The full list of countries and more information can be found at

EU COVID digital certificate

Quarantine is in effect upon arrival

Travelers must be quarantined for 10 days upon arrival. This period may be shortened if a PCR test is performed on or after day 3 and a negative result is confirmed. Suitable places for quarantine in different municipalities can be found at who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from quarantine requirements and can provide proof of a positive antigen or a PCR test. taken at least 14 days prior to departure and no more than 180 days, upon arrival. Proof of recovery must include a QR code and must be issued in Europe, UK, or other select countries.

It is mandatory to submit medical certificate / proof

Upon departure, proof of a rapid antigen detection test or negative PCR, obtained within the previous 24 hours, must be presented. Those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from the testing requirements and can provide proof of a positive antigen or PCR test, taken at least 14 days prior to departure and no more than 180 days upon arrival. Proof of recovery must include a QR code and must be issued in Europe, UK, or other select countries.

Test is done upon arrival

All passengers will be screened upon arrival. If there is no test station on arrival, travelers must perform a rapid antigen test at a public test station within 24 hours of arrival.

Additional documents required

An online 'registration form' must be completed within 72 hours prior to departure. Confirmation received after registration is complete must be presented upon arrival.

Always remember to check with your airline, your itinerary and requirements at the time of boarding, to comply with the protocol and restrictions according to the destination you are going to.

 Tips after arriving:

  Before you leave the aircraft, don't forget to collect all your belongings.
