Trains

The airport is directly connected to Birmingham International station via the Air-Rail Link monorail system. This service is free of charge, has a journey time of 2 minutes and usually operates between 3:30 am and 0:30 am. Outside these hours, the connection is provided via a signposted pedestrian walkway.

From Birmingham International station, you can board services from the following operators:

• Avanti West Coast: Routes to Birmingham New Street, London Euston, Wolverhampton and the north-west of England.
• CrossCountry: Direct connections to Manchester Piccadilly, Bournemouth, Oxford and the south coast.
• London Northwestern Railway: Services to London, Northampton, Milton Keynes and Rugby.
• Transport for Wales: Routes to Shrewsbury and Welsh destinations such as Aberystwyth and Chester.
• West Midlands Railway: Frequent local services to Birmingham city centre and surrounding areas.

Buses and Coaches

The terminal has excellent public transport links operated by National Express West Midlands and Diamond Bus. Stops are located directly in front of the terminal building.

Main local routes:

• X1: Connects the airport with Birmingham city centre and Coventry (operates 24 hours).
• X12: Route to Solihull and Birmingham.
• 75, 82, 91: Services operated by Diamond Bus connecting nearby towns such as Sutton Coldfield and Chelmsley Wood.

For long-distance travel, the airport is a key stop for coach services linking various cities across the United Kingdom:

• National Express: Destinations such as London (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports), Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds.
• Megabus: Offers transport to London, Bristol and Cardiff.

Taxis and Private Hire Vehicles

Authorised official taxis (Black Cabs) operate 24 hours a day and are located at the rank directly outside the arrivals area. These vehicles can accommodate up to 5 or 6 passengers and are wheelchair accessible.

Complete Taxi Management and Minicabit are the airport’s official private hire transport providers. You can book your vehicle at the desk located in the arrivals area or via their official website.

If you prefer to use ride-hailing apps such as Uber, the designated pick-up point is usually located in Car Park 1. We recommend checking the exact location via the app when requesting the service, as pick-up areas may be subject to operational changes.
