Ground transportation options

Public transportation, licensed taxis and ride-hailing apps, private transfers and car rental at Gustavo Rojas Pinilla - San Andrés Island airport (ADZ), 1 km from San Andres Island. See also the airport guide for general information.

Taxis

Taxi service is available 24 hours a day outside the passenger terminal. Since the airport is located within the urban area, the ride to downtown San Andrés and the main hotel district (North End) is very short, taking approximately 5 to 10 minutes.

Authorized companies: The taxi companies that regularly operate at the terminal are Mio Taxi and Mega Taxi. Passengers are advised to use only official taxis waiting at the designated taxi stand.

Fares: Taxi fares are regulated by local ordinances, and taximeters are not used. Fixed fares apply depending on the destination (Downtown, San Luis, Sound Bay, etc.). Additional charges apply for nighttime service, as well as on Sundays and public holidays. It is advisable to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your trip or consult the official fare chart available in the arrivals area.

Walking

One of the distinctive features of San Andrés Airport is its proximity to the island's commercial and tourist district. Many travelers staying at hotels in the North End choose to walk, as the distance is approximately 500 to 900 meters (about a 10- to 15-minute walk), allowing easy access without the need for motorized transportation if traveling with light luggage.

Car Rentals

Although there are no public bus routes serving the terminal, rental agency counters can be found inside the main hall and near the airport, offering golf carts (locally known as mulitas) and motorcycles, the preferred means of transportation for exploring the island independently.

Tips for getting to and from ADZ

Going to the airport

  1. Leave earlier than you think you need to: Gustavo Rojas Pinilla - San Andrés Island airport is 1 km from San Andres Island. Allow for rush-hour traffic, strikes or events, and check the local news before you go.
  2. On public transportation, check the schedule (weekends and holidays usually have fewer services), whether you need to change lines and how to pay: transit card, contactless or cash.
  3. If you booked a shared shuttle, keep the company's phone number at hand in case the pickup is late.
  4. Returning a rental car? Follow the signs to the rental car return area. If you drive your own car, check parking at ADZ.

Leaving the airport

  1. After baggage claim and customs, follow the ground transportation signs. The arrivals page has a step-by-step guide.
  2. Arriving late at night? Not every bus or train runs 24 hours: check the last departure in advance. Ride-hailing apps usually pick up at a designated zone, not at the curb.
  3. With a private transfer, the driver usually waits in the arrivals hall with a sign with your name.
  4. Looking for the taxi rank, the train station or the rental desks, or meeting someone? See the ADZ airport map and share a meeting point.
  5. Renting a car? Booking ahead gives you better rates; see car rental at ADZ.
  6. Staying near the airport? See hotels and overnight stay or hotels near ADZ.
