Overnight stay at the airport

Can you spend the night at Acapulco airport (ACA)? Opening hours, rest areas and services for long layovers. See also the airport guide for general information.

Overnight Stays and Terminal Hours

Acapulco Airport does not operate around the clock. The passenger terminal typically closes after the day's final scheduled flight arrives or departs (around 10:00 pm or 11:00 pm) and reopens at 6:00 am when morning airline check-in begins. Airport security generally does not permit travelers to stay overnight inside the concourse once flights have concluded.

Overnight Services and Alternatives

There are no 24-hour restaurants, shops, pharmacies, or VIP lounges open during the night at the airport. Travelers with early morning flights or overnight layovers are strongly encouraged to book accommodations in the nearby Barra Vieja or Acapulco Diamante hotel areas, located just 5 to 10 minutes away by taxi.

Services and opening hours can change. If you plan to sleep in the public area, have a plan B: some airports only let passengers with a flight stay overnight.

Hotels at and near ACA

There are no hotels located inside the passenger terminal and no sleeping cabins within the airport grounds.

Tips for a long layover

  1. Check whether you can leave the airport: it depends on your nationality, the visa rules of Mexico and whether your bags are checked through.
  2. If you sleep airside, you will usually need a boarding pass for a flight that day. Ask your airline before you go through security.
  3. A lounge with day access can be cheaper than a hotel for a few hours: see VIP lounges at ACA.
  4. Keep your valuables with you, set an alarm and carry a light layer: terminals are often cold at night.
  5. Going to a hotel in town? See transportation from ACA (26 km to Acapulco), and check which services run at night.
