Public transportation services, licensed taxis and rideshare, private transfer companies and car rental services in Warsaw airport (WAW)

 Transportation

The airport is efficiently integrated into the city’s public transport network, offering rail and bus options that provide direct connections to the city centre and other regions of Poland.

Trains

The train station is located beneath Terminal A. It is the fastest option to reach central Warsaw, with a journey time of approximately 20–25 minutes.

  • Szybka Kolej Miejska (SKM): The suburban rail service operates the S2 line (towards Sulejówek Milosna via Warszawa Sródmiescie) and the S3 line (towards Radzymin or Legionowo via Warszawa Centralna).
  • Koleje Mazowieckie (KM): Operates regional trains connecting the airport with the central station and also provides a link to Warsaw–Modlin Airport.

Tickets: Tickets issued by the public transport authority (ZTM) are valid on these trains and can be purchased from ticket machines at the station or on the arrivals level.

Buses

Several ZTM Warszawa bus routes connect the terminal with key points across the city. Bus stops are located in front of the arrivals hall and at the coach terminal.

  • Route 175: Connects with the city centre and the Old Town (Krakowskie Przedmiescie).
  • Route 188: Runs towards the Praga district via Metro Politechnika.
  • Route 148: Travels towards the districts of Ursynów and Praga.
  • Route 331: Connects with Wilanowska Metro station (operates during peak hours only).
  • Route N32: Night service running as far as Warszawa Centralna railway station.

Additional information: You can check routes and real-time timetables on the Warsaw Public Transport website.

Coach terminal

For long-distance destinations within Poland or to neighbouring countries, the airport has a coach terminal located near the arrivals area, where operators such as FlixBus run services.

Transport apps

Uber and Bolt operate at the airport. It is worth noting that Uber is the airport’s official strategic partner. Pick-up points for these services are clearly signposted and are generally located on the departures level (upper floor), in the lanes designated for passenger vehicles.

Taxis

The official taxi rank is located immediately outside the arrivals area. For safety and price transparency reasons, it is recommended to ignore individuals offering transport services inside the terminal and proceed only to the official queue.

Recommended operator: The airport’s official partner is ELE Taxi.

Transportation Tips to/from the airport

Some of these tips may seem obvious, but they are worth keeping in mind when traveling to or from the airport, especially if you are using public transportation.

1 - To the airport: leave a little earlier than usually recommended. If you take a taxi or a private car service, allow for rush hour traffic, demonstrations, strikes or events that could delay your trip. It always helps to check the local news before you leave.

If you book a shared shuttle, keep the company's contact number handy in case the pickup is late. These services usually confirm a scheduled pickup time in advance.

If you use public transportation (bus or train), check the schedules (weekends and holidays usually have less frequent service), whether you need to transfer, and how to pay the fare (a transit card, or cash to the driver). These details seem obvious, but knowing them ahead of time can save you from a delay that could cause problems.

If you drive a rental car to the airport, check where to return it. Many airports have a dedicated rental car return area.

2 - From the airport: this part is less stressful, since there is no risk of missing a flight. At worst, you will reach your hotel or meeting point a little later than planned.

Once you leave the plane, collect your baggage and complete any required arrival procedures. Then follow the signs for ground transportation or ask airport staff.

Check bus and train schedules in advance if you arrive late at night, since not all services run 24 hours. The same applies to taxis. If you plan to use a ride-hailing app such as Uber, have it ready on your phone to contact the driver.

If you booked a private transfer, a driver will usually be waiting for you with a sign. If you are renting a car, booking in advance gives you more peace of mind. Rental counters are usually located in the arrivals hall.
