Requirements for hiring a vehicle

To hire a car in Poland, you will generally need to meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age: At least 21 years old (some companies may require 25 for certain categories). Drivers under 25 are usually subject to an additional “young driver” surcharge.
  • Driving licence: Must be valid and held for at least one year. If your licence is not issued by an EU country or is not in Latin characters, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required.
  • Identification: A valid passport or national identity document.
  • Credit card: Must be in the name of the main driver and have sufficient available funds for the security deposit. Debit cards are generally not accepted for this purpose.

Tips for renting a car in Poland

  1. Check that your driver's license is valid in Poland. Some countries also ask for an International Driving Permit (IDP), which is only valid together with your national license.
