Shared tourist transfers to major downtown hotels are also operated by destination management companies such as Dexotic and Nordic Travel, coordinated around scheduled flights.

Public City Buses (SAETA)

Public metropolitan transit is managed by SAETA via Route 8A (Corredor 8A). The bus does not pull up directly to the terminal entrance; its stop is located at the access roundabout along National Route 51, approximately 600 meters walking distance from the terminal doors. This line connects to the central district, Plaza 9 de Julio vicinity, and the bus terminal in about 35 to 45 minutes. Fares must be paid digitally via the SAETA app QR code or with the rechargeable transit card (cards are not sold within the airport).

Official Taxis and Remises

Outside the arrivals exit along the terminal frontage road, licensed municipal taxis and remise cabs are readily available. Travel time to downtown takes between 20 and 30 minutes, calculated on calibrated taximeters or set counter fares. For assistance or complaints regarding ground transportation, Aeropuertos Argentina operates the toll-free support line 0800-666-7979.

Travelers may also pre-book door-to-door remises with established local dispatchers including Taxitel, Remis Nuevo San Nicolás, or Remis Golden.

Tips for getting to and from SLA

Going to the airport

  1. Leave earlier than you think you need to: Salta airport is 7 km from Salta. Allow for rush-hour traffic, strikes or events, and check the local news before you go.
  2. On public transportation, check the schedule (weekends and holidays usually have fewer services), whether you need to change lines and how to pay: transit card, contactless or cash.
  3. If you booked a shared shuttle, keep the company's phone number at hand in case the pickup is late.
  4. Returning a rental car? Follow the signs to the rental car return area. If you drive your own car, check parking at SLA.

Leaving the airport

  1. After baggage claim and customs, follow the ground transportation signs. The arrivals page has a step-by-step guide.
  2. Arriving late at night? Not every bus or train runs 24 hours: check the last departure in advance. Ride-hailing apps usually pick up at a designated zone, not at the curb.
  3. With a private transfer, the driver usually waits in the arrivals hall with a sign with your name.
  4. Renting a car? Booking ahead gives you better rates; see car rental at SLA.
  5. Staying near the airport? See hotels and overnight stay or hotels near SLA.
