Covid-19: Regulations for travel to Latvia

International travel to Latvia is allowed. You need to meet the requirements to ensure entry is allowed.

Travelers who have visited or transited high-risk countries in the previous 10 days will not be able to travel. There are exceptions for citizens and permanent residents who must submit a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours of arrival, perform a PCR test on arrival, and undergo 10-day self-isolation. You can find a list of high risk countries HERE

Vaccinations and travel rules for vaccinated people

Travelers who present a valid international certificate for full vaccination against COVID-19, using an approved vaccine, are exempt from the testing and quarantine requirements. The certificate must be issued within Europe or other selected countries. The full list and more information can be found HERE

EU COVID digital certificate

Travelers can provide their EU digital certificate on paper or digitally as proof of vaccination, negative test result or prior recovery. Health documents provided in this way will not require additional verification on arrival. Full details on the EU digital certificate, including how EU residents can access their certificate, can be found HERE

Quarantine is in effect upon arrival

Travelers must be quarantined for 10 days. This period may be shortened if a COVID-19 test is performed on the seventh day and a negative test result is confirmed. Those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from quarantine requirements. Positive COVID test must have been taken at least 11 days prior to departure and no more than 180 days. The certificate must be issued within Europe or other selected countries. The full list and more information can be found HERE

It is mandatory to submit medical certificate / proof

Proof of a negative PCR test, taken no more than 72 hours prior, must be provided upon departure. Alternatively, proof of a negative antigen test taken within 48 hours may be presented. Passengers arriving without valid proof will be screened upon arrival. Those who have recently recovered from COVID-19 are exempt from quarantine requirements. Positive COVID test must have been taken at least 11 days prior to departure and no more than 180 days. The certificate must be issued within Europe or other selected countries. The full list and more information can be found HERE

Additional documents required

Travelers must complete and submit a 'COVIDpass' within 48 hours of departure. The QR code received after submitting the form must be presented on arrival.

 Tips before departing

  Make sure you arrive at Riga airport (RIX) at least 3 hours before the flight if it is an international flight or 2 if it is a domestic one.

  Check the luggage limits (size, weight, items forbidden, etc) with your airline.

  Have all the documentation to carry out the check in (ticket, passport, Visa).

  Check the  Transportation available towards the Riga airport (RIX) and the Terminal where you depart. If you arrive at the airport by car check the airport   Parking facilities.

  Check the   Facilities and Lounges (if there are) within the airport grounds, to organize your waiting.

  Once inside the terminal, look at the electronic screens to know the status of your flight. If necessary, declare your new electronic devices at the Tax office.

  At the check-in desk (if necessary) you can check the big baggage, show your ticket (printed or in your phone) and passport and receive your boarding pass. In case you do not need to check a luggage, some airports have self-service check in kiosks where you can get and print your boardking pass.

  Then, at the security control area, if you bring a laptop or a similar device, in you cabin luggage, you will have to place it outside the hang bag. After passing the security area you will get in at the boarding zone. Check you boarding gate and wait the airline call, always having in hand your passport and boarding pass.

  If you are a handicapped passenger, you should coordinate your trip with your airline at least 48 hours in advance and check the  Disabled Passengers facilities. Enjoy your flight!
