Palermo Airport offers various transport options to connect with the city and other locations in Sicily:

Buses

The bus service is an efficient way to reach the centre of Palermo and other cities. The stops are conveniently located outside the arrivals hall.

Prestia e Comandè: Connects the airport with Palermo Central Station (Stazione Centrale) and other important stops in the city. Services operate every 30 minutes from 5:00 am until midnight. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes. Official website

Train

The airport is connected with the centre of Palermo (Stazione Centrale) via the Trinacria Express train service operated by Trenitalia. Trains depart every 30 minutes, with a journey time of approximately 50 to 70 minutes. The airport train station is located on level -1 of the passenger terminal.

Taxis

Taxis are available outside the arrivals area. A trip to the centre of Palermo costs approximately €50.00 and takes around 25 minutes. A shared taxi option is also offered, with a fare of €10.00 per passenger, applicable only with a minimum of 4 users.

There are two main cooperatives operating the service: Cooperativa Trinacria and Cooperativa Autoradio Taxi.

Car-sharing

The airport offers car-sharing services with AmiGO. Vehicles are available in the dedicated car park, near the exit of the arrivals area.

Tips for getting to and from PMO

Going to the airport

Leave earlier than you think you need to: Palermo airport is 35 km from Palermo. Allow for rush-hour traffic, strikes or events, and check the local news before you go.
On public transportation, check the schedule (weekends and holidays usually have fewer services), whether you need to change lines and how to pay: transit card, contactless or cash.
If you booked a shared shuttle, keep the company's phone number at hand in case the pickup is late.
Returning a rental car? Follow the signs to the rental car return area. If you drive your own car, check parking at PMO.

Leaving the airport

After baggage claim and customs, follow the ground transportation signs. The arrivals page has a step-by-step guide.
Arriving late at night? Not every bus or train runs 24 hours: check the last departure in advance. Ride-hailing apps usually pick up at a designated zone, not at the curb.
With a private transfer, the driver usually waits in the arrivals hall with a sign with your name.
