Covid-19: Regulations for travel to Australia


  1. Only people with Australian citizenship, permanent residents and their first degree relatives, as well as people with an  authorized exception , can enter Australia.
  2. All other people, including temporary residents, international students and tourists, cannot enter Australia until further notice.
  3. Australians, permanent residents and their first degree relatives who enter Australia and have two doses of the Australian government approved vaccines may be subject to reduced quarantine periods, depending on the state they enter.

  5. The Australian government recognized vaccines for international travelers are: AstraZeneca Vaxzevria (two doses), Pfizer / Biontech Comirnaty (two doses), Moderna Spikevax (two doses), Janssen-Cilag COVID Vaccine (one dose), AstraZeneca COVISHIELD (two doses), Sinovac Coronavac (two doses).
  6. Vaccinated persons entering Australia must present a certificate of vaccination, issued by a state, national authority or accredited vaccine provider, in English or with a certified English translation, including at least the name of the traveler (as it appears in the passport), date of birth or passport number of the traveler, brand of the vaccine and either the date of each dose or the date on which the traveler completed the vaccination chart.
  7. All persons entering Australia (including persons in transit and holders of diplomatic passports), must present a negative PCR test performed within 72 hours prior to travel and may be subject to COVID-19 testing and medical review.
  8. Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia over the age of 12 who have received two doses of one of the approved vaccines will be able to leave the country without the need for a travel exception.
  9. Australians and permanent residents who are not vaccinated will continue to be subject to travel restrictions to leave (travel exception requirement) and to enter the country (mandatory two-week quarantine).
