Gold Coast Airport, also known as Coolangatta Airport and opened in 1939, has been one of Australia's fastest-growing airports in terms of passenger movements in recent years. The airport is located in the suburb of Bilinga, adjacent to the town of Coolangatta, 25 km (16 miles) south of Surfers Paradise and 100 km (62 miles) south of Brisbane.
