Bus

VAG (Tel +49 911 283 4646) operates line 30 to Nordostbahnhof, Leipziger Platz, Nordostpark, Am Wegfeld, Erlangen and Hugenottenplatz (4:05 am to 0:08 am), and route 33 to Am Bäumling, Lohe, Almoshof, Am Wegfeld, Höfles and Fürth (5:12 am to 0:26 am). Travel time to the city centre is 10–15 minutes and the fare is €3.47.

Metro

Line U2 of VAG (Tel +49 911 283 4646) connects the airport with Nuremberg Central Station in 12 minutes. From there, line U1 can be taken to the trade fair grounds in 25 min. It operates from 4:42 am to 0:55 am and tickets cost €3.90. Intermediate stops include Ziegelstein, Herrnhütte, Rennweg, Rathenauplatz, Opernhaus, Plärrer, Hohe Marter, and Röthenbach.

Taxi

Vehicles from Taxizentrale Nürnberg (Tel +49 9111 9410) are available 24 hours a day outside the Arrivals area. The journey to the city centre takes 15–20 minutes and the fare is around €28.00.

Tips for getting to and from NUE

Going to the airport

  1. Leave earlier than you think you need to: Nuremberg airport is 5 km from Nuremberg. Allow for rush-hour traffic, strikes or events, and check the local news before you go.
  2. On public transportation, check the schedule (weekends and holidays usually have fewer services), whether you need to change lines and how to pay: transit card, contactless or cash.
  3. If you booked a shared shuttle, keep the company's phone number at hand in case the pickup is late.
  4. Returning a rental car? Follow the signs to the rental car return area. If you drive your own car, check parking at NUE.

Leaving the airport

  1. After baggage claim and customs, follow the ground transportation signs. The arrivals page has a step-by-step guide.
  2. Arriving late at night? Not every bus or train runs 24 hours: check the last departure in advance. Ride-hailing apps usually pick up at a designated zone, not at the curb.
  3. With a private transfer, the driver usually waits in the arrivals hall with a sign with your name.
