Connecting at Orlando airport

Connection time calculator, immigration and security, and how to move between terminals at MCO.

How connections work at MCO

At Orlando airport, as at every airport in the United States, passengers arriving on an international flight must clear immigration (CBP) and customs, collect their checked bags and re-check them, and go through TSA security again before their connecting flight, even when both flights are on the same ticket.

The airport has 3 terminals or concourses (Terminal A, Terminal B, Terminal C).

Connecting passengers go through a transfer security screening.

Terminals / concourses: Terminal A, Terminal B, Terminal C

Getting between them: Automated People Mover (APM) trains connect the main terminal to satellite airsides 1, 2, 3, and 4; the landside Terminal Link APM train and pedestrian bridge connect Terminals A/B with Terminal C.

Gates 1–59 (Airsides 1 and 3) connect airside via the central transfer area. Transfers between Gates 1–59 and Gates 70–129, or between Terminals A/B and Terminal C, require leaving the secure area and re-clearing TSA security.

The U.S. does not operate outbound passport control booths; airlines inspect passports and documents prior to boarding international flights.

  • Use MCO Reserve online before arriving to book a free reserved TSA security line access window if switching checkpoints.
  • Gates 1–59 connect airside, but moving to Gates 70–129 or Terminal C requires exiting to landside and going through security again.
  • Allow extra time when transferring between Terminals A/B and Terminal C, as it requires the landside Terminal Link APM train.

Estimate based on typical times at this airport, not your airline's official minimum connection time. Immigration and security lines change with the time of day and season. On a single ticket, the airline must rebook you if you miss the connection; on separate tickets, it does not.
